Academic Statement

Rachel Mattson is an archivist and public historian with special interests in community engaged archival practices, audiovisual preservation, DIY and experimental performance, and activist and queer histories. She holds a PhD in U.S. History from New York University and a Masters in Library Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Among other roles, she has served as Director of Special Collections at Swarthmore College, Curator of the Tretter Collection in GLBT Studies at the University of Minnesota, Digital Archivist at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and a core member of the XFR Collective. She is currently the Senior Consultant at Educopia.
