Conservator, Library Archives and Special Collections, Brooklyn College Library, CUNY.
LBSCI 7903 Conservation Lab
My philosophy is that students will get out of this class as much as they put into reading, listening, and, most importantly, working one - on - one with the conservator.
It is essential for today’s archival professionals to have a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and tools available to them to preserve the unique holdings under their management. Working in tandem with the conservator in the library’s conservation laboratory, students will handle, analyze and learn how to treat original materials gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Students will be introduced to the varied treatments of paper-based materials available to protect an ensure that historic records survive for generations of researchers.
