FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
In support of the campus mission, strategic plans and values, Queens College seeks to fill one or more tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor vacancies in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies (GSLIS), starting from the 2022 Fall semester. Assistant/Associate/Full Professors perform graduate-level teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Full-time faculty generally teach one or more of the core courses. They share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The GSLIS is the only publicly supported American Library Association accredited school of library and information studies in the metropolitan New York City area. The GSLIS offers a broad curriculum. In addition to the M.L.S. degree, it
offers a 30 credit Certificate of Post-Master’s Studies in Librarianship, an Advanced Certificate in Archives and Preservation of Cultural Materials, a Certificate in Children’s and Young Adult Services in Public Libraries, three programs for the preparation of New York State certified School Library Media Specialists, and a dual master’s degree program (jointly offered with the History department) in Library Science and History (MLS/MA). The GSLIS has a large and highly diverse student body, less than twenty percent of whom attend full-time.
