In this exciting experiment, students will build upon their knowledge of science and chemical reactions to recreate a lava lamp! This fun session promotes scientific analysis.
Note: Parental supervision is recommended for younger age groups.
Materials: 1 clear cup, 1 cup (vegetable) oil, 1/4 cup vinegar, food coloring/washable paint, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp water, something to mix with (spoon, popsicle stick, etc.)

During this fun-filled craft, students will create their own smiling sun that can be used for decoration! By using their creativity, children will be guided through creating a masterpiece as well as learning more about the Sun.
Materials: Paper plate, colored paper, cotton balls, markers, scissors

Scratch is a free programming language that is easy for kids to use! In this activity, students will be able to learn the process of coding in a simple and exciting way. Through Scratch, kids are able to begin to work on the skills needed to code more complex projects. This week, our mentors will be leading our students through coding a fun catch game with a bowl and apples! This session promotes critical thinking, coding skills, and problem-solving.
Note: This session is open to 3rd grade through 5th grade students.

Art helps kids learn to pay attention to detail and solve problems to create a bigger picture and drawing is a great place to start! In this session, kids will learn the basics of drawing and design their own masterpiece to celebrate their dads (and father figures) on Father's Day. This session promotes creativity and problem-solving.
NOTE: This session is recommended for 2nd-5th graders.
Materials: Blank piece of paper, Pencil, Sharpie or marker of choice, Ruler (optional), Colour pencils (optional)

This experiment is a fun way to learn more about chemical reactions and the way that germs interact with soap. Guided through the experiment step by step, your child will expand their scientific knowledge and learn more about different types of germs as well as how to stay healthy. This session promotes critical thinking and scientific analysis. Since this experiment can be a bit messy, we encourage parent/guardian supervision.
