Calligraphy

Calligraphy is decorative handwriting. A fun creative outlet, calligraphy is a popular art form accessible through simply a marker. In this session, students will learn the basics of calligraphy and have fun decorating words! This session promotes creativity, focus, and attention to detail.

Materials: Markers in different colors and 2 pieces of paper

coding: Make a game!

Scratch is a free programming language that is easy for kids to use! In this activity, students will be able to learn the process of coding in a simple and exciting way. Through Scratch, kids are able to begin to work on the skills needed to code more complex projects. In this week's activity, students will learn to code a small game! This session promotes memory, processing skills, and problem-solving.

Materials: https://scratch.mit.edu/ account and a device (preferably 2 devices to make learning easier)

tuesday 6/30/20

dance (jazz)

Dancing is a beautiful way to tell a story through movement and hip hop provides an outlet for energy and artistic expression. In this session, kids will get active and learn how to nail jazz. This session promotes memory, confidence,and creativity.

Materials: A large, open space

Slime science experiment

Slime is a sensory substance that is produced as a result of a super cool chemical reaction! Kids loving making slime as well as playing with it after. With a detailed explanation on how the chemical reaction occurred and step-by-step instruction on how to make it, kids will learn more about science while having fun! This session promotes critical thinking and scientific analysis. We highly encourage parent/guardian supervision as this experiment can get a bit messy.

Materials: A bowl, a spoon, a cup, Elmer's Glue (or any glue with PVA) and activator (Parents, you can choose whether you want your kids to use borax and water or contact lens solution and baking soda! Both ways will make amazing slime.)

Optional: Lotion, shaving cream, baby oil, soft clay (model magic, daiso, etc.)

acting

Acting is present in all forms of performative art. From on-camera acting to singing to dancing, the art and genuine nature of acting is a huge part of our lives. This session serves as a perfect introduction to acting and promotes creativity and communication skills.

Materials: Scripts that will be emailed to students!

session for aspiring doctors

If your child dreams of being a doctor or even just has a slight interest in the medical field, this session is the perfect way for them to explore that interest in a fun, informational way. Two mentors who have been in medical academy for a few years will be leading your child through a educational presentation! This session promotes personal development and medical knowledge.

Art helps kids learn to pay attention to detail and solve problems to create a bigger picture and drawing is a great place to start! In this session, kids will have fun while learning the basics of drawing. This session promotes creativity and problem-solving.

Materials: Paper, crayons, pencils, and colored pencils

Science kahoot

Kahoot is an exciting way to review topics that children have previously learned during school and expand on their scientific knowledge. This session promotes memory and critical thinking. This fun trivia allows children to learn from their mistakes and continue to grow their knowledge.

Materials: A device to play Kahoot on during the zoom session and kahoot.it

friday 7/3/20

In this fun game, kids will get to test their knowledge on classic Disney movies, characters, and trivia!

Magic Tree House read-a-loud

Reading serves as a productive past time and expands vocabulary and knowledge! Led by the founders of Project Teens Teach, kids will be able to listen and discuss a book from the hit series The Magic Tree House. This activity is great for kids to relax and have fun as well as follow along to the adventures of two siblings, Jack and Annie, and their adventures through history!

Materials: Nothing!
