Activity 1 - WRITING AN ACTION RESEARCH PLAN
Classroom action research begins with a question or questions about classroom experiences, issues, or challenges. It is a reflective process which helps teachers to explore and examine aspects of teaching and learning and to take action to change and improve.
This activity helped us experience how to create our own action research that is an additional form of professional development that focuses on methods applied by teachers in efforts to improve our learning. It is done through our collaboration with the community, teachers, and students. It fosters development of skills pertaining to our critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and ethical decision making.
Activity 2 - MAKING AN OUTLINE OR VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SAFE AND CONDUCIVE
A virtual learning environment (VLE) is an online platform used for educational purposes. It encapsulates all the online environments that act as supplements to the course, whether they are online courses, reading resources and informational sites with stand-alone skill assessments, or other forms of virtual learning. Moreover, it is a web-based platform for the digital aspects of courses of study, usually within educational institutions. They present resources, activities, and interactions within a course structure and provide for the different stages of assessment. VLEs also usually report on participation; and have some level of integration with other institutional systems
This activity exposed us to another learning experience, which enables us to make our virtual learning environment safe and conducive. We can now identify the practical and feasible classroom routines and procedures, analyze and assess critical educational intervention, acquire higher concept of learning strategies in establishing own procedures and we can promote active participation to our learners and teachers using modern technologies.
Activity 3 - FOCUSING ON CREATING MY CLASSROOM/REMOTE LEARNING MANAGEMENT PLAN
A classroom management plan is a set of rules designed to hold students accountable for their behavior. It also details procedures for how a classroom operates throughout a school day, such as procedures for when students take tests or when there are emergency situations.
This activity is a reminder to all pre-service teachers to focus on creating a classroom routine that will make students more productive. We must be committed in making classroom a safe and conducive environment and develop a democratic and equitable learning environment to our students that they can learn effectively while feeling secured.
Activity 4 - Writing my First Lesson Plan
A lesson plan is the instructor’s road map of what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively during the class time. Before you plan your lesson, you will first need to identify the learning objectives for the class meeting. Then, you can design appropriate learning activities and develop strategies to obtain feedback on student learning. A successful lesson plan addresses and integrates these three key components: Objectives for student learning, Teaching/learning activities and Strategies to check student understanding
This activity consists of describing the different parts of a lesson plan using a specified model, construction of a lesson plan aligned to one's specialization using the existing basic education curriculum, revising a lesson based on the comments/suggestions given by the mentor/instructor, citing of challenges encountered in writing lesson plans, lastly, reflecting on the feedback received for the improvement of teaching practice.
Activity 5 - Delivering my Lessons, Selection and Utilization of Various Digital Apps and Web Conferencing Applications
Teachers use a variety of tools to make the process of teaching and learning simple, interesting, and effective which makes it easier for the teacher to teach even the most difficult subject. It also makes sense and saves time as students learn very quickly by watching rather than reading. Therefore teachers use teaching aids. These teaching aids assist in faster learning, enhance students-teachers’ interaction, make students take active involvement etc. The importance of teaching aids are high as it combines both textual material with visual matter, audio and videos to teach students and it enhances the learning experience of students and teaching experience of teachers. Students tend to learn fast when they are taught with visual representation.
This activity consists of Viewing of virtual peer-teaching demonstration, Evaluating the appropriateness of digital teaching aids to virtual teaching and learning, the Identification of the various digital and web applications and its usage to virtual teaching and lastly, the importance of the utilization of digital teaching aids in the new normal classroom setting.
Activity 6 - Grading system and DepEd School Forms
Grading system is the process by which educators evaluate the performance of the pupils in exams on the standard particular scales which is based on the points entirely and consist of the grades like A-F or range like 1-10; generally, letters and numbers are used to describe the grades of the scholars.
The main purpose of the grading system is to give clearance to the learners and educators about the performance of the pupils in the respective subjects and field of study so that both can able to do work on the weaknesses and achieve good results. It is the important factor through which teachers determine the efforts of the students in studies. The primary purpose of the grading system is to determine the achievements of the student achieved in the study. Also, to motivate the students, grades put into the practice as students make efforts to improve their ranking.
This activity consists of identification of the school forms, its purpose and uses, downloading e-class record and filling out sample DepEd school forms and doing sample computation of grades using the DepEd assessment criteria.
