This was a presentation I conducted with another colleague at a conference for The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) in 2009. Our extensive experience as a laptop school is what drew people to the session, but it was information about the school change process that made the use of technology meaningful that was the main message of this session.
Having sustained a laptop program since 1993, Brewster Academy has learned a number of valuable lessons about how effectively manage a technology rich environment and all its attendant issues. These issues range from management logistics to 21st century skills to Facebook and everything in between. But perhaps the most important lesson we learned is how to meaningfully integrate technology into every curriculum and how to ensure that all teachers are savvy users of technology in the classroom. Let us show you how we did it.
