This object was excavated by Ontario Heritage Trust at a site called Inge-Va just outside Perth, ON. The main concern for this object was further fragmentation due to improper storage at OHT. The purpose of this treatment was to clean the individual fragments and re-assemble to prevent further fragmentation or dissociation of the pieces. The treatment for this object is as follows:
- Mechanical cleaning with bamboo skewers, gentle vacuum and acupuncture needles.
- Solvent treatment with ethanol and acetone to reduce accession numbers of the fragments
- Syringe ethanol into the folds of the base fragments to reduce dirt build up and accretions within the fold of the base fragments.
- String through the fold with a piece of Hollytex to absorb and catch excess dirt and solvent build up within the fold.
- Reassemble the fragments with a ~50% Paraloid B-72 w/v in acetone.
- Prepare a box for transport/storage purposes
