Freddy Burke
President 2025-2026
Federico “Freddy” Burke is a dedicated community leader from Jersey City, New Jersey, known for his longstanding commitment to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish and his active involvement in various Filipino-American organizations. Born to Peter and Luz Burke, both of whom have been active members of the parish, Freddy has been an integral part of the community since his youth. He served as an altar server from 2006 and has held multiple roles within the parish, including lector, Eucharistic minister, and religious education teacher. In 2020, he was appointed as the Director of Religious Education, overseeing the parish's catechetical programs and sacramental preparation.
Beyond his responsibilities at St. Mary's, Freddy is deeply involved with the Filipino-American community through the Catholic Action of Mary (CAM). He currently serves as the president of CAM, a role in which he has organized significant cultural and religious events, such as the annual Santacruzan and Flores de Mayo celebrations, which include street processions and community gatherings . Freddy's leadership extends to the Filipino Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Newark (FAAN) – Hudson County, where he collaborates with other community leaders to serve the needs of Filipino Catholics in the region.
In addition to his religious and community work, Freddy has been recognized for his contributions to various organizations. He has been honored by the Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League (PACCAL) and Friends Indeed USA for his dedication and service.
Notably, Freddy was the Event Ball Chair for PACCAL's 30th Anniversary Dinner and Dance in 2022 and served as a co-chair for the 2023 event . These recognitions highlight his unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of others through service and leadership.

Rheanne Lagman
First Vice President
Rheanne Lagman is a Budget Manager of New York's Department of Defense in Hempstead, New York. Prior to being in DOD, she served as a Budget Project Director at Mount Sinai South Nassau. Her work is instrumental in supporting the hospital's mission to provide exceptional medical services to the community.
In addition to her healthcare role, Lagman is the State Vice President of JCI New Jersey where she leads programs focused on personal growth and leadership development for young professionals. She was also a Chapter Vice President of JCI Philippine New York in 2024. Beyond her JCI commitments, Lagman is the President of Barkada Tumulong, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local and international communities through collaborative efforts and acts of kindness. Under her leadership, the organization has initiated projects such as building a library in Tarlac, Philippines, to provide children with access to books and learning spaces. Additionally, Lagman volunteers with the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI), contributing her time and skills to support the organization's cultural and community events. Her multifaceted involvement reflects a deep commitment to service and community development.
Flo Coronel
Second Vice President
Florante “Flo” Coronel is a multifaceted leader based in Queens, New York, whose professional and volunteer endeavors reflect a deep commitment to both community service and cultural preservation. Professionally, he serves as the General Manager of Family Care Senior Services, LLC, and as a Case Manager at Steadfast Caregivers, LLC, roles through which he provides compassionate care to the elderly. His leadership extends to the nonprofit sector as the Chairman of the UNIFFIED Cooperative, which serves Filipino-American educators and professionals on the U.S. East Coast.
Beyond his professional and civic engagements, Flo is a founding member of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) District 30 in Queens, New York. In this capacity, he has played a pivotal role in organizing cultural events that honor the legacy of Dr. José Rizal, including a Balagtasan-style poetry performance titled “Tula Para Kay Gat Jose Rizal,” which reflects on modern Filipino life and social awareness. His leadership within KOR District 30 underscores his dedication to preserving Filipino heritage and fostering community unity. Rebecca Samanyaphon

Rebecca “Becky” Samanyaphon devoted much of her professional life to nursing, a field where she exemplified compassion, care, and steadfast dedication. As a nurse, she served her patients with warmth and attentiveness, earning their trust and respect over the years. Her work in healthcare not only provided comfort to countless individuals but also laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to service. Upon her retirement, Becky seamlessly transitioned from clinical care to community care, dedicating her time and energy to various organizations that uplift and empower the Filipino-American community.
In 2009, Becky and her husband were honored by the Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League (PACCAL) as “Parents of the Year,” a recognition that celebrated their commitment to family, leadership by example, and service to others. Years prior, she had also been awarded one of PACCAL’s earliest Community Service Awards in the early 2000s. Since then, she has continued to play a vital role within PACCAL as a longtime board member, contributing in roles such as Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary. Beyond PACCAL, Becky remains a visible and dependable supporter of other civic and cultural organizations, including those based in Long Island. Her legacy of service continues to inspire new generations, proving that retirement is not an end but a new chapter in making a meaningful difference.
Aprille Aquino

Aprille Piamonte Aquino is a human resources professional with a heart for service and advocacy. She has worked with organizations like The New York Foundling, where she focused on recruiting and supporting individuals committed to social impact, particularly in areas related to child welfare and family support. Her professional background is marked by her dedication to people-centered leadership, which seamlessly extends into her work within the Filipino-American community. With a keen understanding of organizational development and a passion for community empowerment, Aprille has become a reliable force in both her career and volunteer efforts.
In the civic arena, Aprille has held key leadership roles, including serving as the 56th President of JCI Philippine-New York and as a New York State Vice President under JCI USA in 2019. Under her leadership, JCI projects thrived, including a successful fundraising initiative that raised $10,000 through the “Spooktacular Halloween Jam.” Beyond JCI, she is an active supporter of the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI), contributing to the preservation and celebration of Filipino culture in New York through events like the annual Independence Day Parade. Jenny Castaneda

Jenny Castaneda, based in Jersey City Heights, New Jersey, is a skilled project manager specializing in construction and interior design. Her work involves managing timelines, coordinating teams, and ensuring that each design reflects the unique goals of her clients. Outside of her professional work, Jenny plays an active role in community and faith-based initiatives. She currently serves as the Treasurer of UNIFFIED New Jersey, where she helps manage finances for programs supporting Filipino-American educators and professionals. She also holds the Treasurer position in the St. Anne’s Filipino-American Association, contributing to events and outreach that foster cultural pride and unity within the local parish. In addition, Jenny is a devoted member of the church community in Secaucus, New Jersey, where she volunteers her time and talents for parish events and ministries. Jose “Joey” Mayo—also affectionately known as Joey Cassanova—is a Jersey City native who has earned respect both as a first-generation Filipino‑American and as a civic-minded professional. With roots deep in the Heights neighborhood, Joey followed in the footsteps of his mother, Linda Mayo, who broke significant ground as the first Filipino‑American elected to the Jersey City Board of Education and later served as deputy mayor. Carrying forward that legacy, Joey is recognized locally as a veteran speaker and advocate: an architect by trade and continues to champion community-driven development and representation,
In addition, Joey plays a distinguished role within the Knights of Rizal, serving as a member of the New Jersey Chapter’s Council of Elders—a position that honors the teachings and civic ideals of Philippine national hero Dr. José Rizal. Lee Clemente

Darlene Dilangalen-Borromeo

Darlene Dilangalen Borromeo is a distinguished registered nurse and community leader based in New Jersey, celebrated for her unwavering commitment to mental health care and advocacy. Born into a family of Muslim nobility in Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines, she carries the title "Bai," denoting her royal lineage. Despite this heritage, she emphasizes that her true calling lies in serving others. After earning her nursing degree from Marian College (now General Emilio Aguinaldo College) in Manila, she immigrated to the United States in 1980. Over the years, she has become a certified Gerontological, Psychiatric, and Mental Health nurse, dedicating over two decades to the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Clare’s Health System in Denville, New Jersey. Currently, although retired, she continues her service part-time in the Psychiatric Emergency Services unit, evaluating mental health patients in crisis.
Beyond her clinical expertise, Darlene is deeply involved in community service and cultural preservation. She has been honored as the 2023 Honorary Chairperson of the PACCAL Awards, where she was recognized for her support of PACCAL’s programs, including initiatives focusing on Older Adults and promoting Filipino heritage . Her leadership extends to the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey, where she previously served as president, and she has been acknowledged with the 2025 Peterkin Foundation and Growing in Grace Counseling Group’s Compassionate Caregiver Award for her lifelong dedication to compassionate caregiving . Anita Borja
