The Class Plan allows teachers to pace students by providing daily to-do items linked to course content. This Class Plan enables students to know what to do on any given day and easily navigate to content. Students are instructed to follow this daily. All courses are required to use the Plan.
Due dates will be created through the course content page by choosing the assignment, selecting “edit properties in place”, and creating start, due, and end dates as appropriate.
All assignments must have a DUE DATE and an END DATE and have conditionally released announcements as needed. All semester final exams must have START DATES, DUE DATES, and END DATES entered.
When creating an event, the course Class Connect time must be used as the start and end time for the event. Events will NOT be scheduled as “all day” events. The first offered course class connect time will be the event start and end time. See below for information on how to create an event.
OVCA HS teachers will no longer put the WAG ("week-at-a-glance") on the Plan.
Non-course classrooms (Community Family Advisors, Communication Crew, FASL, Counselors) will not place events on the class plan.
Plan items should be created at least two weeks in advance to allow for adequate planning time for both students and teachers. Plan items should not be created more than 4 weeks in advance of the current date to prevent excessive rework due to necessary changes to course content or school calendar as well as maintaining consistency among courses.
Class Connect Sessions should NOT be scheduled as an event on the Class Plan. Class Connect Sessions are to be scheduled via the Class Connect Scheduler at least ONE week in advance but no more than 4 weeks in advance to coincide with DDI and planning.
Leads will check courses bi-monthly to ensure proper usage of Class Plan.
Create an event for items students are to do that are not graded. For instance, read this lesson, work on your honors project, catch-up day. All graded assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, etc. that have a grade attached need to have their own item on the Plan. Please see Set Dates below for more information.
Select PLAN from your course menu bar.
Click the blue Create Event box above your calendar.
If you are adding an item from Content (such as a lesson), click the Add Content button. This will allow you to link to the Content.
From here, there are many different levels that you will need to drill down to. The first selection is the Unit. You do not want to select this. Do not select a bubble until you drill down to the level you want. Hit the arrow on the right next to the unit where your content is.
This is now the lesson level. If you select this it will link to everything under this title. To drill down further hit the arrow on the right again next to the lesson title.
This will take you down to the sub-modules (such as Learn and Assessment). Choose this level if you are wanting to assign everything within it. Click the arrow next to the sub-module to drill down further. This last level is the individual lessons/item. Select the appropriate title to assign. Click Add.
Note: No graded assignments should be placed on the Plan this way. See below for how to Set Dates for graded items.
This should be used for all items that have a grade attached. Items will appear on the Plan if a due date was already indicated in Content.
To assign grade items from the Plan, Click Set Dates above the calendar.
Note: You MUST drill down to the actual item that has a grade associated for the due date notifications to work!
Continue hitting the right side arrow until you reach the lowest level of the lesson. Once you reach the item (such as the quiz to the right), bubble the title and click Add.
