One would describe Luigi as the sidekick, the misunderstood or just Mario's brother. He may not be the bravest or the most noblest, but every player 1 needs it's player 2 and Luigi is the most valuable player 2. Luigi can be awkward but can put on a brave face when needed. Despite living under Mario's shadow, He even became the main character in Mario is Missing! and in his own series, the Luigi's Mansion franchise.
