After the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik crash landed on the floating Angel Island. Tricking the guardian of the Master Emerald Knuckles into thinking that Sonic is the badguy. While showing no animosity to the blue blur, Knuckles occasionally clashes with Sonic as well as being one of his best friends.

Connection: R.O.B. and Knuckles are currently the last of their kind. Originally they were seen as villains in The Subspace Emissary and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 until they it's revealed they've been tricked by the main villains and decides to help the heroes on their quest to stop them.
