Name: Adrian Pearce
Alias: (nickname) The Bloody Blacksmith
Gender: male
Age: 18
Species: Human
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Affiliation: Light
Rank: A class
Appearance: Adrian is average height and weight and has spiky brown hair. He has yellow eyes and wears a white shirt with jeans and a blue coat over the top of it. He also tends to wrap his hands in athletic tape in an attempt to muffle the sounds of his clapping when he casts his magic.
Personality: Though usually a laid-back, jovial, humble and eccentric man, Adrian shows a deceptively cunning and serious side when the situation warrants it. He commonly uses idle conversation and outward concern to distract his opponents. Despite his care-free attitude, he tends to be sarcastic and answer questions with overly simplified, blatent answers. He also tends to start things in a more nuanced manner, but will soon switch to a more straight forward and blunt approach is the first attempt doesn't work quickly.
Under all of this though he has a dark side. Adrian realizes that when you spend your life fighting a certain kind of evil, it changes you. You learn things about yourself. You get into predicaments that cause you to do things to survive that you wouldn't normally do. He's had to do them, and knows he'd be able to do them again if it came down to it, which hopefully it never will. But that instinct is still there, and there is nothing he can do about it besides accepting this as a truth of life and trying to move on.
History: Adrian was gifted from a young age, and most of his family was mages who were often gone on missions, so Adrian spent most of his childhood hanging around the local guild, Eternal maze. He'd always been a quick learner and soon his mother, a maker wizard, taught him about maker magic and encouraged him to find his own craft by experimenting, which lead to him creating his own type of magic based on his mother's, crimson make magic. He joined the guild and always showed promise. He was able to become S rank by 16 and considered the guild his home.
That was until the guild was no more. One day, after returning from a mission outside of town to take care of a wyvern that had been bothering some local farmers. As he hobbled back to the guild, a bit bloodied and winded but otherwise ok, a loud, blood-craving roar was heard from the woods. As he walk towards the thicket to investigate what it was, not sounding like the wyvern he'd fought earlier, but was clubbed by a dragon's tail and sent flying into the nearby guild hall. Down for the count after the attack, Adrian could only watch as a dragon flew out of the forest and started to destroy the guild hall and pick off his friends. Adrian struggled helplessly, wanting to save them, needing to save them, but he soon blacked out, buried in the rubble of a building he once called home.
Adrian awoke to an old man digging him out of the rubble, but he was still fading in and out of consciousness. He finally fully awoke when he was splashed in the face with a bucket of water. As he regained his composure and looked around the room his attention was caught by the man who'd taken him in, uncle Benny.
Now, every family has their black sheep, but this guy took it too far. If there was a color darker than black, it would have been the color of this man's soul. An extremely skilled wizard that used Pict magic, he was exiled from the guild due to an unnatural attraction to Adrian's mother leading to a kidnapping attempt, only to be thwarted by Adrian's father. Adrian knew that he must have been the one who caused the dragon attack that wiped out his guild, and later discovered his hometown. Benny always had an obsession with the entire family, and now he had Adrian.
It was 6 months that the deranged man held him there, breaking a hand so he couldn't cast, and a leg so he couldn't run away. He even implanted a strange lacrima into him, saying it was a "gift" for his birthday. But what he didn't know is that Adrian was never one to follow the rules placed on him. As he was trained by his mother, she'd always taught him to cast with two hands. "Two handed constructs will always be much more stable" she'd say. But stable isn't what he wanted right now. Practicing with his good hand over the course of 6 months, Adrian was finally able to make constructs with one hand, but they would explode not long after creating them. Perfect.
One night, when uncle Benny prepared them dinner and helped Adrian to his chair, he created a dagger with one hand and stabbed it into Benny's side. The old wizard knew what happened when and inexperienced mage tried to create something with such a volatile magic, and took the dagger and threw it. Making a few more daggers and throwing them on his way out, it bought Adrian enough time to escape into the forest, but there was no time to rest.
"Uncle Benny liked to ramble, it was like a tic of his. Usually it was just incoherent nonsense. But sometimes it was more. He spoke about a guild called fairy tail a lot. Felt like they'd wronged him in some way or another, I really didn't know why. What I did know is he was going to try and wipe them out, just like he did to Eternal Maze. I wasn't gonna let that happen, I just couldn't."
Adrian made it to Magnolia, knowing Benny was going to attack there next. He found himself a place to rest and wait. Sure enough within a few days Benny arrived in Magnolia, and went to work. As he began to draw the same dragon that had attacked Adrian's guild hall a large magic circle appeared underneath Benny and he was impaled from four different sides. As he looked around, knowing the magic spell Adrian walked over to him. Uncle Benny just smiled and told Adrian that he didn't have the guts for it, but he hands rose around Benny and he was judge; harshly.
After that whole incident Adrian went to the nearest guild to seek help for his injuries and hopefully a new home. He found fairy tail and was treated, though he was stuck with crutches and a few casts for a couple of months so he had no choice but to hang around the guild hall and mope. He spent most of his time thinking about his guild, his parents, his uncle. The man he wanted to hate so much, but just couldn't. The two people he wanted desperately to see again, but didn't have much hope that they were still around.
But his time at the guild healed more than his broken bones. As he watched the others he saw people who had lost everything and rebuilt a home here, much like himself. He saw bonds that had formed and been tempered, and he even started to form some of those bonds himself. By the time the restraints that kept him at Fairy Tail were gone he didn't want to leave. He'd found a new home where he could make new memories.
So after a quick trip back home to look through the rubble of his old guild hall. It appeared the dragon had wiped out the entire town. After a few days of searching he gathered a few things from his families home and started to leave the town when he saw some light glistening from some tall grass. He went to go pick it up, and what he found was an old, beaten up necklace with the guild emblem on it, just like his mother wore. Adrian started to trace a path out from the back door of the guild building to where he'd found the necklace, and following the path he found a break in the trees that had grown over a little. Wondering where it led he followed the path out and found it led not only out of the city, but it had an almost completely hidden path almost all the way out to the main road. With a smile on his face for the first time in almost a year Adrian put the necklace on and returned to Fairy Tail.
Once he'd officially joined fairy tail he started to pick up jobs that would take him far and wide, and everywhere he went he asked about the symbol on the necklace. Over the past few years Adrian's done a lot, and even reclaimed his title as an S class wizard, but the most memorable part has been the amazing people he's met, and the hope they give him that he'll someday find his parents.
