In March 2020, most extracurricular activities were canceled, postponed, and/or moved online due to the rising risk of COVID-19. This fall, though the pandemic is still a serious risk, more research on the spread of Covid has allowed us to return back to school and even back to our previous hobbies and activities with modifications that allow us to stay safe. I’m sure you’ve heard about sports returning, different honors societies, and even our Spectrum newspaper which you are reading right now, but did you know the drama club is back too?
Last fall, Nyack’s award-winning drama club got approval to begin auditions and rehearsal for an in-person production (with Covid safety precautions, of course!). After three months of rehearsals, “Reunited Shorts” is now available for your viewing pleasure!
“Reunited Shorts” is a collection of six, 10-minute scenes, each featuring two actors. The scenes discuss a range of topics, some are comedies, some are dramatic and sad, and others make you think about the world in a new way. Though they may seem randomly placed together, all the scenes have one common theme; love can come in all shapes and sizes.
On February 5th, the production was filmed and now a video of the play is available to the public at no cost! From the comfort of your own home, you can watch a play that will make you laugh, cry, and even contemplate your beliefs.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible and keep an eye out for information about auditions for our spring musical, “Urinetown,” coming soon.
