After a stunt at school, Robert is put into the hotseat and the vice principal forces Nolan Iris' hand to send him to a boarding school to fix his behavior. The retired veteran thinks nothing of it at first, but fleeting memories of his past service and a grim reminder from his wife on why she's even here in the first place slowly allow him to settle into a state of dread. Nancy hopes for some recognition for her wartime photography skills, but everyone at military school only talks about Robert.

T.T. travels back in time to when the adults were kids and accidentally reveals details about Nolan's future lobotomy. Panicking, she recruits her friends Danny, Vera, and Leš to help fix the situation, but they end up causing even more problems. Meanwhile, in the B-plot, we watch a young Nolan growing up making changes that ripple through the timeline.

Nolan experiences the wonders of being a 3rd grade teacher and the horrors of how terribly run this whole school is. Jerry struggles to bond with his new step-sister, Nancy, as he's still adjusting to his new life and family.

Dr. Cates successfully carries out her scheme and is rewarded and recognized for her scientific achievements and brilliance, ushering in a new age of feline fertility. Wendy Thompson, feeling quite unsatisfied with where her life is heading, hears rumors about a mysterious cryptid and takes it as a challenge.

All Bongo wants is to have a stable relationship with his daughter, Drew, but her commitment to the mime culture puts a considerable distance between them. He could ask his deceased ghost brother, Slappy, for help in uplifting her, but he'll be damned if he starts holding a convo with that obvious mentally taxing illusion born out of his schizophrenic trauma. No way is he going to lose his mind even more.

Dorothy McDougall encounters the cryptid that has had only been heard from whispers in town, and she once again brushes against death's door. When she wakes up, she isn't the same Dorothy from before. Delly struggles to recognize her cousin has come back, she just doesn't believe it.

T.T. and her gang finally manage to set this alternative universe back on course to become normal, but hesitate when the think about what'll happen to everyone here. Nolan Iris has to make the hardest decision he's ever had.
