Permit #: 25-31850-HDLC
Description: Retention of hollow tube fencing at front property line of a Contributing rated, 1-1/2 story, single-family residential building installed in deviation of a Certificate of Appropriateness.
HDLC Guidelines:
10:5-7 -- Guidelines for Site Elements
Retention Items:
Hollow-tube Fencing: Commission discretion
Staff Recommendations:
An HDLC violation case for Work without Permits was opened on the property on September 1, 2022 for several items at the house. The current owner has agreed to resolve all other items, but is asking retention for the hollow-tube metal fencing with welded bars that was installed prior to her ownership. Research shows the fence was installed between 2016 and 2018 prior to the sale of the house in 2021.
The HDLC Guidelines do not approve hollow-tube metal fencing or metal pickets that are welded on to the horizontal bars rather than punched through. However, due to the amount of time the fence has been installed, Staff leaves the recommendation to the discretion of the Commission.
