Who discovered Savannah River?

Savannah River was discovered by William H. Claflin. Claflin was a young, amateur archaeologist who traveled the United States. Though some called him an amateur archaeologist, he was essentially someone who liked to dig and had no credentials. He found this particular style on Stalling Island in the Savannah River. Therefore, this point was named for this large river system that divides South Carolina and Georgia.
