Jasper was mostly used to create Clovis points.
Clovis points were first found in Clovis, New Mexico and have since been found all over North America.
Radiocarbon dating has put these points between 11,050 and 10,800 years ago, which is 13,100 to 12,900 calendar years ago (Lovgren, 2007).
Clovis points tend to be, "bifacial, and were most likely made by smacking stone at an angle, in order to fracture the rock to produce a certain shape," (McLain, 2019).
Most Clovis points were used to hunt Mastodons and Wooly Mammoths.
Jasper is a variety of Chalcedony and is typically seen as a brown, red or, yellow color.
There are many different varieties of colors that Jasper can come in, but the three above are the most common appearances of Jasper.
