The Friends of the Library are excited to be exhibiting the works of our local renowned photographer, educator, writer, and local business owner, Nancy Ori, from October 19 to January 17, 2026 on the walls of the Adult reading area and the Conti Room.
Join us on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 2–4 PM, when all are invited for a reception and Hand-Coloring Inkjet Demo by Nancy, when she will reveal her simple techniques. Almost as easy as paint-by-number, her simple techniques will be revealed. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Meet the artist, hear about her creative process, and watch a live demonstration of hand-coloring techniques on inkjet photographs. This interactive event offers a unique opportunity to experience the artistry behind the work and ask questions about the methods and inspiration. Nancy will also walk the exhibit to point out the various techniques that are being used.
This show celebrates the blend of photography with mixed media layered techniques in both the front gallery and Conti Family Community Room. It showcases collage, cell phone–manipulated images, and hand-colored inkjet photographs, bringing new textures, colors, and layers of meaning to each image.
“In this body of work, I explore the ways in which images can move beyond a single image that was captured on location to something deeper with more layered meaning. My photographs become the foundation for further manipulation either by apps on my phone or by hand with various art materials. Techniques included in the exhibit are collage, hand-coloring, and digital manipulation. The hand-applied materials allow textures, shapes, and further interpretation of each image. The process is one of layering traditional art materials like pastel and watercolor, sometimes with natural elements like leaves and organic textures. The result is a blend of layered materials to elevate the statement of each image,” Ori said.
Each piece invites the viewer to slow down, look deeper to consider how the elements, phone apps, or added materials enhance each story.
