Craft Workshop for Art of the Mask

To compliment our New Providence Community Art show in June and July,The Art of the Mask,we are had two Community Craft workshops for parents and children of all ages to come and create their own decorative mask, on either Thursday, June 9th, 3-4pm or on Saturday, June 18th, in the Coddington room in the childrens' wing. We had almost 20 participants and some of the artists were willing to leave their masks to be displayed in the glass cabinet for the entire month of July. (They can now return to pick up their masks in the library children's room)

Begin with a tour of the gallery to see the many uses and ways “Masks” have been created. How many different materials can be used to decorate a mask!

Come create a half-mask or whole-mask from paper plates, drawing and gluing different materials, tissue paper, feathers, stars, and yarn to be creative!

We will provide supplies for children and parents to decorate together or individual paper masks with feathers, wiggly eyes, colored tissue paper, and other embellishments. Masks will be strung with elastic string so the children can wear them home or leave them to be a part of the community display.

Walk-ins are welcome, no registration necessary, but there is a registration below, if you want to be sure to secure a seat at the table, click on link below:
