The October display in the glass cabinet of the New Providence Library will combine Linda Kale's pine-needle baskets and Violet Valenti Musso's Counted Cross Stitch designs.
Violet Valenti Musso's Counted Cross Stitch
Violet Valenti Musso and Linda Kale
Violet Valenti Musso began sewing when she was about 5. But when she was around 9, she found a cookie tin with her grandmother's embroidery threads. Since then, she has done stamped cross stitch(where the Xs are printed on the fabric), Crewel embroidery (which uses wool threads), French Knot embroidery (which are made up of strictly French knots), Needlepoint, and finally, Counted Cross Stitch, which is on display this month in the glass cabinet.
Counted Cross Stitch allows me to be more creative and creates a more intricate design.
I start on blank fabric and count the holes to determine where the stitches will go.
