General Guidelines
Inclement Weather During Practice
Keep the group calm and together.
Assess the risks: lightning, risk of hypothermia and other risks.
Lead the group to the nearest shelter.
Communicate with the lead coach.
If there are two coaches with the group it may be necessary for one to stay with the athletes and the other to go and alert the lead coach, if it is safe to do so.
Nakkertok Race Program Contingency Plan for Disruption Prior to a Practice
Check the Nakkertok Race Program website: go to the meeting point, if it is safe to do so.
If there is not internet/power go to the last indicated meeting point, if it is safe to do so. You may be redirected from this point if necessary.
If you are unable to get any information: Do a workout on your own, with a friend or family member, if it is safe to do so.
Be assured that the coaches are frequently keeping tabs on the weather and are in contact with the NCC about the status of closures in Gatineau Park and at Nakkertok. Please refrain from contacting the coaches to update them. They will be using whatever time and resources they can access to make safe alternate plans and to communicate them to the race program via the website if at all possible.
