Tiles

Process

For lasering tiles, I use the so called Norton process.

More information can be found here .

I do the design work in Lightburn. The critical thing is to have a good picture to start with and a very even coat of paint.

On my wastboard, I can screw two pieces of wood which work as a guide for the tile. This way the tile lays always in exact the same place. So to re-do a tile, is not a problem: the tile always inexactly the same position and the start position can be pre programmed.

The rendering of the picture is also important, to get the right shades of grey (more than 50, please). So I use xxx for elements which are pure black and white and xxx when I need more shades.

This is the stand I created for the tiles. The wood is from the bench I renovated...

This is the second tile I made... It's part of a song, which was meaningful to us in a crazy week, both out dad's died... Here I was allowed to use a spare tile from our bathroom. The others are tiles I bought specially for the engraving.

"Il faut cultiver notre jardin" This is a quote by Voltaire. In a world gone mad, we better focus what is in our control sphere. Not as much the wars on the other side of the world (how cruel they may be) but treating our neighbours well and be charitable to the members of our community...
