Things

This pages is a collection of things - beautiful or useful... or even both - I made using primarily the laser.

Medal Board

In the UK, when children go to school, they receive medals as a reward. So by the time they have  done a number of years, they may have collected a few of them.
This medal board I created for a friend, who was looking to have something to hang the medals of her children. Driving back home, I came up with this idea to make it a bit more personal.

Background is lasered on wood, rest is normal wood work.

Tube Rack

Tube rack for 3 tubes with diameter of 20mm each.  The tube rack I made before was cut with the CNC router, this one was laser cut out of birch ply: 2 passes at 125 mm/min at 100%, followed by individual areas 2 or three times at the same setting. There were two areas where I couldn't get through without setting everything on fire. This is due that birch ply (advertised as being very suitable for laser cutting) has either filler of patches of surplus glue, which defies the laser.... As these areas were on a straight line, I was able to finish the cut with a knife. Lesson: don't use birch ply for laser cutting...

This basked it made out of 1 A4 sheet of 3mm ply wood. By printing ever increasing circles and gluing them together  again in a rotating fashion you get this basket. a little spray of varnish, to stabilise  the wood and all is done. You can create the same effect by using squares or any other angular form.
