Juan Rabadan

Centered around the loss and renewed channel of connection with my twin brother, this exploration was significantly influenced by the creative processes within my art curriculum. My chosen medium is digital media, incorporating archival photos and photography, yet manipulated through digital software. This blend of mediums allows me to construct an alternative world that shows otherwise unattainable realities.

The project's essence is to evoke a spectrum of emotions within the audience, unraveling thoughts on loss, connection, and family. As they engage, I aspire to show them the intricate realms of yearning, providing a glimpse into the feelings I experience. Whether eliciting a shared sentiment or a personal reflection, the intent is to encourage viewers to contemplate the vast possibilities of memories that exist or can exist with those they love, whether in the present or beyond our shared physical plane.

About the Artist

My artistic journey is a synthesis of Graphic Design, archival photography, and whatever other inspirations cross my path. At its core, my work seeks to explore memory, whether personal or shared. To tap into the effects and power that memory leaves behind. I believe in the transformative power of looking into our past, both individual and collective, as a powerful tool for learning and growth. History is often perceived as static. Rather, it is a dynamic force constantly shaped by differing perspectives. Narratives, initially presented as concrete truths, consistently fall under transformation as we gain new insights, challenging our understanding of self and society. Inspired by my life, family, and media that evoke strong emotions, my creative process is motivated by the urge to express and explore new ideas that arise from my inspirations.

The luxury of creative practice, often inaccessible, has found a more inclusive space in the digital world, especially with the global connectivity brought by the internet. As I combine archival photography with graphic design, I aim to show the accessibility of creativity, making it accessible to a broader audience. Seeing that for me art has only recently been my career. My art is a testament to the belief that, regardless of its form, art can provide a sense of freedom and offer outputs worthy of our time. In essence, my work is not just a personal exploration but a shared journey, inviting viewers to reconsider the past, question assumptions, and participate in the collective narrative that shapes our understanding of the human experience.
