The Memorial Union Building broke ground in the Summer of 1950 following three years of planning and fund raising by the Alumni association following the apparent need to house auxiliary services after World War II.
Occupying previous residency lots, the MUB was built right along side where old US 41 ran through the middle of campus opposite Hubble Hull(where now the MEEM stands(. The MUB was built to foster a collaborative and uniting environment for students on campus.
Timeline:
1950- Initial Building
1989- Major renovation (Food court, extra conference rooms)
2002- 2nd floor balcony added and commons facelift
2008- Ballroom remodel
2010- Student orgs and food court received updates
2014- Welcome Center added to south face of building
