Currently the Second Floor provides a banquet hall for MTU to host events for sponsors/ donors, scholarship recipients, or for entertainment purposes. The floor also provides hotel rooms for donors to stay in. These hotel rooms are essentail to the MUB as they also allow for the building to carry a liquour license Also on the second floor is a war memorial for all of those who have served our country that passed through MTU.
Renovations and Goals
The overarching goals of the second floor renovation was to improve the space for the university to utilize for multiple events as well as to create a space that persuaded donors into wanting to put money towards various things the university is looking to accomplish. These goals may not seem to provide anything to the students, but it does so in an indirect way as the more money brought in from donors, the more the students benefit. Some of these renovations include redoing the hotel rooms to be more luxurious and appealing to donors, redoing the layout of the event space to allow for multiple events at once, and to improve accesibility for catering purposes. The hotel rooms were cut down to four large rooms with seperate living and sleeping spaces. The event room was cut down the center with a folding wall to allow multiple events to be hosted by the students or the university at one time. The hallway at the north side of the floor allows for caterers and event guests to move to their desired room without disturbing any other ongoing event.
