After completing your A-levels, you may wish to continue studying at a higher level in order to obtain a qualification such as an undergraduate degree, or a diploma. You get to choose which course or area of study you would like to do and at which higher educational institution.
"WHAT should I study for HE?"
This would depend on several factors - your school subjects, your grades, your interests, and your future career plans. There is a large range of courses that are roughly categorised into Science, Social Science, Arts, Humanities, Engineering, and Medicine. In general, if you have a combination of Mathematics and science A levels, this would fulfil the subject requirement to most science, social science, engineering and medical courses. If you do not have any science A levels, then you would be looking to apply to arts and humanities courses. However, this is a very rough guideline - many arts and humanities courses accept a combination of maths and science subjects, as well.
"WHERE should I study for HE?"
You may choose to study in any number of HE institutions locally and around the world. This would also depend on several factors - your grades, your interests, your funding, and your future career plans. Do a search of the courses that you are interested in - not all courses are available at every HE institution. Click on the links below to find out more about different HE institutions and the courses they have on offer.
"HOW do I apply to study for HE?"
This depends on the institution to which you are applying. For example, if you are applying to a local (Brunei) government HE institution, they may require that you apply to a centralised online application system such as HECAS; but if you are applying to an HE institution in the United Kingdom, then it is likely that you will be applying through another system called UCAS. Please check with representatives of the institution to ensure you apply in the correct way.
