Creation Myths

In Year B, the year the I teach 4th grade California standards, I am also teaching California indigenous tribes.  Students are creating websites about California's indigenous tribes for PBL.  Therefore, during our writing unit on Narratives, the modeled texts that I use are the creation myths of California's indigenous tribes.  Two birds with one stone, right?  Use the worksheet to the right after reading each narrative, to take notes, notice similarities.  

Basically, during history time, we go over the myth, the worksheet, the values it displays.  During writing time, we look ways to retell the story to make it more literary, more entertaining, more descriptive, without changing the meaning or the values of the traditional stories.
