Immigration
Immigrants have been changing the American landscape since before 1620. This new section to the website will have some activities that show who, what, where and when the immigrants lived.
Graphing Chinese Men assignments This assignment has students take a T-chart of the most commonly held jobs by Chinese men in 1870 and graphs it using Google Sheets and Google Docs. There are very clear directions so all you need to do is copy and paste it into Google Classroom! The objective is for students to understand what these incoming immigrants contributed and to learn some tech skills and some math skills. Sounds pretty great huh?
Graphing Irish Immigrants assignments This assignment is on the same lines as that. Students take a T chart that says the number of immigrants from Ireland during different decades. Using Google sheets, Google Docs, and very clear directions, students convert this T chart into a bar graph. In the perfect world, you can compare the information gained from the Chinese men employment graph, and the Irish immigrant numbers graph. You could have a real discussion about how each graph is different, and how this information is relevant.
Library of Congress.... by Nationality This is a great website where students can click on "Polish" or "Chinese" or "African" or whatnot and get re-directed to an article about that experience. It is very well written and almost leans itself towards groups projects, don't you think?

You scrolled all the way down... this means that you enjoyed my work. Yes, it is free. Yes, there is no obligation... besides telling me if there is a spelling error or something... But, you know, I do like coffee... and I am not going to say no if you want to buy me a cup of coffee via Venmo. I am @AmaraLee-Brenner. ... now enjoy some History memes!
