Hello again. When you write music on your own, you have several different options. Depending on the style and instrument you choose, the approaches can vary dramatically. The opportunities seem to be endless.
Let's say you decide to write a simple melody for voice or a solo instrument - you could follow the instructions shown in “How to write a Melody” in one of our announcements. You could also decide to add accompanying chords to your melody. How do you pick the write chords? What note of the melody goes well with which chord?
You can start with the chords and later find a fitting melody, or you can start with the melody and find fitting chords. This video can help a little bit with the deciding whether a note goes well with a certain chords or not.
Good luck!
