Basic Harmony

Imagine songs as living on certain floors (keys) in buildings, and each floor has rooms (chords). The layout of rooms is the same on every floor, but some rooms are more popular and get visited more often. These rooms are like the chords in a song.

The most important room is like the living room in the middle of an apartment. This special room is where the song usually starts and ends.

So, when we talk about the key of a song, we're basically saying which floor we're on, and the chords are like the rooms on each floor. The living room is like the main chord that everything centers around.
