S5MUS-A (2018-2019):

• Playing music and sing

• Learn how melodies go together with accompaniment

• Learn how to create/find harmonies (intervals that go well with the melody)

• Cocktail parties

S5MUS-B (2018-2019):

• biology/physics behind singing (process)

• voice types, history, recordings of vocal music, autotune, recording techniques

• song writing process;

• How did vocal music become so dominant in current music?

• how can instruments accompany voices (harmonies)

• correct singing technique(s)

Music and voice

This topic will allow students to investigate and perform various forms and styles of singing (solo and choral) in Romantic and popular music from 1850 up to the present day. They will explore different types of song, and the contextual influences affecting its creation, performance and audience.
