The Feywild is the home plane of Fey and other natural beings. It is from there creatures such as hags, satyrs, and darklings come from. Additionally, it is said the earliest Elves and Gnomes were descended from Fey, explaining their affinity to life and the natural world. The Feywild is ruled by courts, which often carry their own laws and cultures in their respective domains. The Feywild is woven into all natural aspects of the natural world, and often that integration can be seen in some manipulations of the Weave.
The Feywild is accessible by fey pathways woven into natural areas. Places like Mammut Forest or the Fonyx Ruins are great places to seek out these pathways. Some are guarded, some are vacant; some are in use, others lie dormant. Often it is advisable to cooperate with a guide, such as a migrant fey or someone with close connections with the plane.
Some adventurers have less choice in the matter, as malevolent fey often capture mortals and bring them to their home plane. Their targets are varied by the motivations to do so; a satyr may draw a mortal into their plane with their allure, while greater hags may lure children to extra-planar abodes to be made into slaves.
The Spring Court's domain is rich with with blossoming life and great winds. Often called the most peaceful of the courts, the inhabitants are docile and polite in all dealings. Outsiders are always welcome and given extended stays, and are given the best hospitality while they remain.
The inhabitants live in groups of varying sizes across the land. Some live in humble villages, while others may prefer a solitary life with occasional visits to their friends in society. Even surviving out in the wild is easy in this domain, due to the abundance of plant life. The only challenge, though one must not underestimate it, is the frequent rains and weather which often can destroy habitats with flooding or wear.
The pinnacle of the Spring Court is the castle in the northern region of the domain. Preferring the open air, the castle is composed mostly of walls and balconies made from a bright white stone. Vines and trees grow up the sides of the structure, giving it an almost fantastical vibe. Small awnings protect many areas from the rain, and often guests are allowed to stay within the towers rising from its top. Residents of the area often live in the shade of leaning trees and the shacks amidst fields of flowers outside.
The domain of the Summer Court is constantly bathed in the golden light of the sun. The Summer, or Gloaming, Court is the most chaotic of the courts, embodying the heat and light that they constantly live in. Visitors are usually welcome, though many adventurers are put off by the bustling lifestyle of the the inhabitants.
The inhabitants live in expansive groups; solitude is usually frowned upon in the Summer's domain. They sleep in to midday, and spend every evening and night in massive celebrations and festivals and parties. The court's natural lean towards evocative magic makes production and yield of necessities a light matter, and so little fey do work within the communities. Festivals are made for every occasion, and the rowdy celebrations go for days or weeks at a time. Ancient structures rise from the fields and coasts, but the fey residents often spend their days outside in the ever-good weather.
The magnum opus of the Court is the castle, which adorns the Southern countryside. It is so large that few really classify it as a castle, and more as a large city. Despite this, every road and every balcony is almost always bustling, with festivities and stands and great displays of magical power. The large central structure houses official activities. Other courts often meet here save for politics. Instead, the structure marks the fervent pursuit of personal liberty in every fey, and serves as a monument to indulgence.
The Autumn Court glows in hues of orange and red as the perpetual sunset drives through the leaves of the trees. Law and order is the most important thing to this court, and thus employs the strictest form of government among all fey. Visitors are allowed to come, but rarely stay past their welcome. Additionally, while there, all creatures are expected to adhere to the laws of the land without fail. Should this be challenged the accused will be tried as any other resident.
The inhabitants of the Autumn court live in a series of villages around the groves. Some species live within the walls of hollowed trees, while others build structures in beautifully simplistic architectures. Many liken the houses of the Autumn fey to chapels and churches from the mortal plane. Just outside of villages are many clearings in the trees, filled with ritual circles and other magical nuances used to communing with spirits and foretelling future events. There is also a strong conjuration community, exploring the ability to summon nature at will using certain exchanges.
The domain is capped by the court's palace, a magnificent chapel built fused with a great oak with gnarled bark. Reaching to the heavens, the stone and wood combination combines natural beauty and artificial straight lines for a stunning effect. Inside is a solemn place, with only high ranking officials and servants being given free reign of the halls. In the roots of the tree hides an expansive dungeon complete with courtrooms, used to punish transgressors.
The Winter domain is a place of eternal night, where strong, chilly winds cut to the bone with cold. The Winter Court is the black-sheep of the courts, and also the most misunderstood. Visitors are often turned away, though can find refuge there given proper diplomacy or rare circumstances.
The inhabitants of the court are heavily attuned to the balance of life and death within nature. They greatly favor fauna over flora, as the only plants to survive in the harsh environment are the great conifers and lichen-esque grasses. The live mostly in solitude, creating stone structures to brave the elements and preserve their few possessions. They often come off as mean-spirited and grouchy, but in all reality are merely not used to much outside contact.
The court holds its business in a vast castle made of a dark grey stone in the southern forests. The other courts hold negative feelings for this court- autumn thinking them too uninvolved, spring thinking them scary, and summer thinking them killjoys. The lack of plants serves great purpose to the court, other courts who are more attuned equally with plants and animals suffer a sort of weakness of magic here. It is for this reason that political discussions and other meetings likely to cause issue are resolved in the Winter Court's domain. The court itself is prone to strict neutrality in most matters.
