modcore is currently building the “Support the Developer” program. Some features described here are not yet available. In addition, this policy does not apply yet, only requests from extension developers are currently being collected, which we will then add to the program in the future.
The Support the Developer program is designed to help extension creators receive voluntary financial support from users who appreciate their work. It provides a simple way for developers to share trusted donation or sponsorship links directly within the modcore Extension Manager.
This program is optional, free to use, and available to both independent developers and teams. It applies equally to personal, educational, and commercial extensions.
modcore Extension Manager does not process payments. All transactions happen directly between users and developers through external platforms.
The goal of the program is to:
Help developers receive voluntary support for their work
Increase transparency around funding sources for extensions
Provide users with clear and direct ways to support tools they use
Encourage sustainable extension development without forcing monetization
To be included in the program, developers must:
Be the verified owner or authorized representative of the extension
Provide accurate extension information matching official store listings
Submit valid and functional support links using HTTPS
Ensure all listed links are under their control or official accounts
Provide a working contact method for support or abuse reports
Maintain compliance with applicable browser extension store policies
Ensure the extension does not contain malware, spyware, or hidden tracking
Provide a clear privacy policy if any user data is collected
modcore reserves the right to verify submissions before approval.
Developers who wish to join the program must complete the official submission form.
Required information includes:
Developer or team identity
Extension name and extension ID
Store listing link
Category and description
Key features of the extension
Support or donation links
Contact and abuse reporting information
Technical and distribution details
Compliance confirmations
Only submissions from verified developers or authorized representatives are accepted.
Submitting false or misleading information will result in removal from the program.
Developers may provide one or more of the following types of support links:
PayPal
Patreon
Ko-fi
GitHub Sponsors
Buy Me a Coffee
Official personal or team donation pages
All links must be secure, functional, and use HTTPS.
modcore does not endorse or verify third-party payment platforms beyond link validity at the time of review.
When viewing an extension in modcore Extension Manager, users may encounter one of two states:
If an extension is part of the program, users will see:
The developer’s name or team name
A short description of the extension
One or more support or donation links provided by the developer
Users may choose to support the developer voluntarily through these links.
If an extension is not part of the program, users will be informed that:
The extension does not currently participate in the Support the Developer program
No donation or support links are available through modcore
Only the developer can request inclusion. modcore does not add extensions without consent.
modcore takes link safety seriously.
All support links are reviewed before approval, but users should still be aware that:
Links may change or become outdated over time
External donation platforms are not controlled by modcore
Users should verify they are on legitimate external websites before making payments
If a link appears broken, misleading, or suspicious, it can be reported.
Extensions found to contain harmful or deceptive links may be removed from the program.
Users can report:
Broken donation links
Suspicious or unsafe URLs
Misleading support information
Potential abuse of the program
Reports should be submitted through the built-in reporting option within modcore Extension Manager.
Developers participating in the program are expected to:
Keep support links up to date
Ensure contact information remains valid
Respond to critical abuse or security reports when necessary
Maintain transparency about funding methods
Remove or update links if they are no longer valid
Failure to maintain accurate information may result in removal.
The Support the Developer program:
Does not handle payments or transactions
Does not guarantee financial support from users
Does not mediate disputes between users and developers
Does not verify the financial credibility of external platforms
Does not automatically include extensions without developer consent
Extensions or developers may be removed if:
Links are found to be malicious or misleading
Submission data is intentionally false
The extension violates platform policies
The developer requests removal
The extension becomes unmaintained or inactive without notice
modcore reserves the right to remove listings to protect users and maintain program integrity.
This program may be updated over time to improve safety, usability, or compliance.
Developers may be contacted for:
Verification updates
Link validation
Policy changes
Extension status confirmation
More updates and improvements will be shared as the program evolves.
