modcore Terms of Use / End User License Agreement (EULA)

These Terms of Use / End User License Agreement (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of software, browser extensions, websites, and related services developed or distributed by modcore.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using any modcore software, browser extension, or website (collectively, the “Tools”), you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree, you must not install, access, or use the Tools.
If you are located in Germany or the European Union, mandatory consumer protection laws apply and are not limited by these Terms.
2. Definitions
“modcore” refers to the open-source development initiative operated by private individuals based in Germany.
“Tools” refers to software and browser extensions developed by modcore, including but not limited to modcore Extension Manager, modcore Authenticator, and modcore Clipboard.
“Open-Source Software” refers to components released under an approved open-source license.
“Distributed Version” refers to official builds distributed via platforms such as the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons.
“Closed-Source Components” refers to proprietary elements not released under an open-source license, including branding assets, distribution infrastructure, or exclusive features.
3. Licensing & Open-Source Software
3.1 Open-Source Licensing
Unless explicitly stated otherwise in a specific repository or distribution, modcore Tools are released under the Apache License, Version 2.0.
Your rights to use, modify, and distribute open-source components are governed exclusively by the Apache 2.0 license.

3.2 Closed-Source Components
Certain Distributed Versions of the Tools may include Closed-Source Components.
These components:
Are not licensed under Apache 2.0
Remain the exclusive intellectual property of modcore
May not be copied, modified, or redistributed unless explicitly permitted
Closed-Source Components may include, but are not limited to:
Official branding and logos
Proprietary UI assets
Exclusive features distributed via official channels
Distribution-specific infrastructure
4. Permitted Use
You may use the Tools for personal, educational, or commercial purposes, provided that:
You comply with applicable laws
You do not misrepresent modified versions as official modcore products
You do not infringe modcore’s name, branding, or reputation
Forks and modified versions must clearly distinguish themselves from official modcore releases.
5. Add-ons, Extensions, and Third-Party Content
5.1 Official Add-ons
Official add-ons or extras developed by modcore may be distributed through official channels such as GitHub or Patreon.
Availability, pricing, and access conditions may change at any time.
5.2 Third-Party Add-ons
modcore does not control, audit, endorse, or guarantee third-party add-ons or extensions.
Installing add-ons from non-official sources is done entirely at your own risk.
modcore assumes no responsibility for third-party software, content, or services.
6. Updates, Modifications, and Availability
modcore may:
Update, modify, or improve the Tools
Introduce breaking changes
Discontinue features or entire Tools
Updates may be delivered automatically through browser extension platforms.
You are responsible for reviewing changes and maintaining backups of your local data.
modcore does not guarantee backward compatibility.
7. Privacy & Local Data Responsibility
The Tools are designed with a local-first, zero-collection architecture.
modcore does not collect usage data from the Tools.
You are solely responsible for:
Your locally stored data
Device security
Backup and export of your data
Full details are described in the modcore Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
8. Third-Party Services
Some features may interact with third-party services at your request, including but not limited to:
GitHub APIs
Google Chrome Sync
Patreon
modcore does not control these services and is not responsible for their availability, security, or data handling practices.
Use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
9. Support & Maintenance
Unless explicitly stated otherwise:
modcore does not guarantee support, maintenance, or response times
Support is provided on a best-effort basis
No obligation exists to fix bugs, security issues, or compatibility problems
10. Disclaimer of Warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by German law (BGB):
The Tools are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”
modcore makes no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
Fitness for a particular purpose
Merchantability
Error-free operation
Continuous availability
Use of the Tools is at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
For users in Germany and the EU:
modcore is liable without limitation in cases of intent (Vorsatz) and gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit)
For slight negligence, modcore is liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (Kardinalpflichten), limited to foreseeable damages
Liability for injury to life, body, or health remains unaffected
Liability under mandatory statutory provisions remains unaffected
modcore is not liable for:
Data loss
Extension conflicts
Browser instability
Incompatibility with future browser versions
12. Termination
modcore reserves the right to restrict or discontinue access to official distribution channels if:
These Terms are violated
The Tools are misused
Unlawful activity is detected
Termination does not revoke rights granted under open-source licenses but may limit access to official builds or services.
13. Age Requirement
The Tools are intended for users aged 16 years or older.
If you are under 16, you may only use the Tools with parental or legal guardian consent.
14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
For merchants or users without a general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the place of jurisdiction is Germany.
This does not affect mandatory consumer protection rights.
15. Changes to These Terms
modcore may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, or organizational changes.
Continued use of the Tools after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
