Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 4, 2026 Applies to: modcore Extension Manager (modcore EM), modcore Authenticator, modcore Clipboard, all other modcore Chrome Extensions, and the official modcore websites.

1. Introduction and General Scope

modcore is a collection of open-source tools and browser extensions developed by a team of private individuals operating from Germany, within the European Union.

Your privacy is not just important to us; it is the absolute foundation of our software. We are committed to a strict "Zero Data Collection" policy. Whether you use the Open Source versions (via GitHub) or the Distributed versions (via Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons), we do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or usage behavior.

This Privacy Policy explains how our tools function locally on your device and confirms that we operate in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) of Germany.

Data Controller: The data controller for modcore is the private development team. Email: ngde@web.de

2. Total Absence of Analytics and Tracking

To ensure complete privacy and transparency, modcore has removed all analytics services from its ecosystem.

Even if a government entity or third party requested user data, modcore would be unable to provide it, as no such data exists within our possession.

3. Local Data Storage

Our extensions (modcore EM, Authenticator, Clipboard) store data exclusively on your local device. This data is required for the tools to function but is never sent to modcore.

Depending on which tool you use, strictly local data includes:

Your Control: Since this data lives on your device, you have full control. You can inspect it via browser Developer Tools, back it up using internal features (like modcore Snapshot), or delete it by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser storage.

4. Patreon and Payment Information

modcore maintains a Patreon page for voluntary support.

Clause regarding Patreon Support: If you choose to support modcore via Patreon, payment and account information is processed exclusively by Patreon. modcore does not access, store, or process your credit card details, bank information, or personal account passwords. We only access the limited information necessary to deliver membership benefits (such as your username to grant role access).

5. External Communications (GitHub & Sync)

While we do not collect data, our tools may interact with third-party services at your direct request to provide specific features.

5.1 GitHub API

Some features (e.g., checking for updates, "Extension Scan") may request public metadata from the GitHub API.

5.2 Google Chrome Sync (modcore Cloud)

Features labeled "Cloud" or "Sync" utilize the built-in chrome.storage.sync API provided by your browser.

6. Website Privacy

The modcore websites are informational only.

7. Security Measures

7.1 Content Security Policy (CSP)

We implement a strict Content Security Policy in our extensions (e.g., script-src 'self'; object-src 'self'). This ensures that no unauthorized external code can run within the extension, protecting you from Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and injection attacks.

7.2 Bug Reports (Voluntary)

If you encounter a bug, you may choose to submit a report via email or GitHub. Providing logs or data in these reports is entirely voluntary.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German law, you have specific rights regarding your data. However, because modcore does not collect or store your personal data, the application of these rights is straightforward:

If you have voluntarily emailed us (e.g., for support), you have the right to request that we delete that email correspondence.

9. Contact

For any legal inquiries, privacy questions, or to exercise your rights regarding voluntary correspondence, please contact the Data Controller:

Email: NGDE@WEB.DE

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal changes or technical updates. Because we are committed to privacy, we will never silently re-introduce tracking. Any significant changes to this policy will be documented in the repository or changelog.
