2023-03-07 Current situation (Kriemen)

Late last year my family and I fell ill with Covid. During this time our domain and web hosting expired. Shortly afterwards my laptop died and I lost access to the hosting and several other accounts. It took sometime to recover what I could and to come to terms with the disruption. There are also some "family issues" I'm dealing with too.

As a result, I have not been in the right frame of mind to do much Skyrim modding. It is like my drive and excitement has been switched off. So I took my usual break over Christmas and January to play something new. to try to get excited again. Spent time playing a lot of Death Stranding and The Sims 4. Have also made a bunch of homes and Sims for that. They are available on the Sims 4 gallery at the moment.

We (Lierin, Gerheardt & myself) are currently discussing / trying ideas for a new home. Please bear with us while we get ourselves motivated / orginised. I'll try to get this old backup site up to date. I'll also look at adding links to my mods on my Discord too. (Or a new one)

We each are working on bunch of new Skyrim mods. When will they will be available? I do not know. Progress may be slow. But, it is happening.

Best wishes, Kreimen.

2021-08-19 Why the change? (Kriemen)

At the start of July 2021, Nexus Mods quietly removed mod author's right to delete their work. Prior to this, they had also altered the TOS to give themselves the right to do as they please with any mods they host for as long as they like. Our mods would be "archived" and could be accessed via the API, regardless of our wishes.

The excuse they gave was "it will break collections" if we deleted anything. Even old and outdated files.  They refused to give valid reasons as to how it would break things or even work with us on finding a solution that would benefit all parties concerned. Eventually, they admitted that is a "policy" and not a technical reason. Meanwhile there was a concerted effort by staff to censor and contain any discussion away from the general users. They have even gone as far as banning one of the "more vocal" authors for trying to get the truth from them. I have also been censored for sharing my view on the reasoning behind their course of action. They said I was being "too political".

The only concession they would give at the time was to allow us to request the removal of ALL our work. They also kept the right to refuse our requests as they saw fit.

The deletion of my work was the only way to break out of the current TOS entrapment.

I do not mod so Nexus Mods can claim them, forever to make a profit from.  I make mods to share and learn from. My mods are for the user to enjoy.

There is probably a lot more that happened that I have forgotten or missed or even misinterpreted. This is simply a trimmed down version of what I saw and was involved in.

Anyway, that is now in the past and I am just looking towards the future. Mixwater Mods is now part of that future. I don't know if it will stay small and hosted for free on Google, as it is now. Or if we can save some cash and make something better on one of the big name providers. For now, we are waiting to see if any other sites come along that respect our basic rights.

A huge thank you to all our friends and supporters over the years. Your support is very much appreciated.
