Polyblastia sp. on calcareous sand and bryophytes in a disused limestone quarry. Areolate grey thallus with black mildly projecting perithecia. Fragmented in place. Largest fragment approximately 1 cm in diametre.
After further discussion with experts (HB) I am more confident to accept P. philaea. The presence of one fitting (mature) spore makes this a likely diagnosis, the other smaller spores are only submuriform an in this context likely immature.
Current working ID is Polyblastia philae. If you have suggestions for a better ID or confirmation please let me know.
No discernable prothallus. Surrounded by various cyanobacteria overgrowing moss.
