On top side of a metal railing. Exposed to rain and sun.
This is part of my recent (June 2025) dive into "small yellow/orange nightmares", mostly microlichens with yellow and orange apothecia. Please take my ID suggestion with caution.
This sample keyed out to Flavoplaca/Caloplaca oasis with multiple keys. (ITALIC 8.0, Wirth 2013). I like the distinction made in ITALIC as Flavoplaca oasis f. lithophila auct. to distinguish it from forms parasitizing Bagliettoa sp. which are definitely not present in that habitat.
This was an exercise in taking very small samples, scraped of with a knife and collected on the sticky side of a post-it note.
Plenty enough to do microscopy and chemistry on.
