The Unarmed Drill Team (UDT) competes at drill meets in both regulation and exhibition events. Cadets learn advanced drill movements that go beyond what is taught during regular class-day marching. UDT specializes in complex marching sequences and precision routines, requiring members to maintain the highest level of sharpness, discipline, and drill execution.
Regulation Drill follows a strict sequence of commands that must be executed exactly as prescribed. The focus is on precision, timing, uniformity, and proper drill movements. Everything is done “by the book,” with no added creativity or flair.
Exhibition Drill is creative and fast-paced, allowing cadets to perform advanced and expressive routines. Teams may incorporate intricate marching patterns, ripples, step-overs, choreography, synchronized stomps or claps, and sharp freestyle movements. Exhibition highlights showmanship, teamwork, and high-level drill creativity.
