Glomeridae

Glomeridae is a family of pill millipedes of holarctic distribution, being present in North America, Europe, North Africa, and Asia, that contains 26 currently accepted genera and about 305 accepted species, the majority of which are found in Europe. In captivity only 5 genera have been cultured by enthusiasts; Glomeris, Hyleoglomeris, Onomeris, Trachysphaera, Rhopalomeris, and Onychoglomeris, to varying degrees of success. Only Glomeris has been consistently bred in captivity, and even then in much of Europe, where the majority of Glomeris (and most glomerids in general) are cultured, wild caught specimens are more commonly available than captive bred specimens. In the United States captive-bred Glomeris specimens are occasionally available from breeders, and in Asia almost all available specimens are wild caught.
