Gosodesmus

This monotypic genus containing only G. claremontus can be found throughout coastal California inland into the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains (2).

There is limited information pertaining to this species in captivity, though preliminary reports suggest this genus does not do well when kept identically to Brachycybe lecontii. Like most andrognathids it lives in rotting wood, and likely feeds on fungal growths.

This species reaches to a maximum size of approximately an inch/2.54 cm. It is a white to pinkish color, often with a dark, transverse band running the length of the specimen.

Gosodesmus claremontus found in-situ under a rotting log in the San Gabriel Mountains. Thumb shown for scale. Photos compliments of Arthroverts (3).
