At MHS, we are inspired by our passion for facilitating relevant and rigorous learning experiences for each of our students. With more than 100 course offerings spread across 10 subject areas, there is something for everyone at Middletown High School! Each of these courses have been linked to one or more of our Critical Core Competencies as we expect students to graduate from MHS modeling the characteristics of reflective innovators, productive collaborators, global citizens, motivated and engaged learners, and effective communicators.

As you prepare for the upcoming school year, I would encourage you to work closely with your guidance counselor to determine which courses will set you up for academic, post-secondary, social, and emotional success. Also, please listen carefully to the advice and recommendations of your teachers as they will also make recommendations for courses that will appropriately challenge you. Finally, involve your parents/guardians in the process as you can benefit from their varied insights and life experience.

Pay particularly close attention to our graduation requirements as these are the primary indicators that we utilize to determine whether or not an individual is eligible to receive a Middletown High School diploma.

The MHS Program of Studies undergoes extensive annual review and is approved each year by the Middletown Public Schools School Committee prior to initiating the course selection process. Please keep in mind that student requests determine which courses and how many sections of each course we run each year. The MHS community works hard to ensure that students are afforded the opportunity to take courses that are challenging, innovative, and relevant. However, without a sufficient number of requests, we are unable to run sections/courses so please be extra mindful when making your selections.
