Grade Weighting and Class Rank

Grade Reporting

Hard copies of student report cards are published 4 times per year and are sent home either with students or in the mail. Online grades are updated periodically on either the MHS student information system, PowerSchool, or on an alternative grading platform utilized by the teacher. Whether PowerSchool or an alternative platform is being used, families and students should have access to their student's grades so that informed conversation and, when necessary, remediation can be implemented using targeted and meaningful interventions.

Class Rank

Starting in the fall of 2023. we will no longer rank students.  We want our students to be intrinsic learners working towards personal goals.  As evident through the COVID pandemic, many colleges have moved past using rank as part of the admissions process.  MHS will adopt a Latin honor system of Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude.  At the end of senior year, we will still honor the traditions of Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
