Virtual High School (VHS)

Virtual High School (VHS) offers a catalogue of full semester courses in Art, World Language, Language Arts, Life Skills, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology, and Advanced Placement (AP) Study. Core courses in the VHS program are NCAA accredited. It is suggested that interested families visit the VHS website (https://vhslearning.org/) for the most up-to-date program information and list of available courses.   Enrollment is prioritized for students with irresolvable conflicts or core classes not offered at MHS.

Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) programs are offered in the areas of Art, Humanities, Mathematics, and Science. These courses are equivalent to college courses. AP work involved significantly more time than the typical high school course. Students may spend approximately two hours per day in unsupervised, individual study for each hour of class time. It is recommended that a student selecting AP courses limit their selection to two courses per year.

English Language Learner (ELL) Support

English Language Learner Support is for students who are learning English as their second language. English Language Learners (ELL) will increase English skills, language acquisition, and content knowledge in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and comprehension. Teachers use intervention strategies and techniques to ensure that these students have had sufficient exposure to high quality, appropriate teaching that includes academic English instruction in an environment that is supportive of their language development. Classes will provide interventions that (1) provide systematic attention to language development, (2) build on students' background experiences, (3) use techniques that make the lessons more understandable. (4) create opportunities for practice and application, (5) use repetition and reinforcement, and (6) assess frequently and reteach as necessary.
