The sun gear, ring gear and planetary carrier are used as inputs/outputs in the planetary gearboxes. They can be powered by either electric motors, hydraulic motors or diesel combustion engines.
The central sun gear takes a high-speed and low-torque input that can be distributed to the planetary gears that will drive a shaft or spindle. [7]
Sun and Planet gears can be used in wheel drives, truck drives, conveyors, mixing, winch drives, pumps, coil tubing injectors and so much more.
