These are little tips and tricks I use everyday (especially when moderating) when using a Discord server in any level, whether I am a member, or a moderator. Either way, they're quite useful and I would recommend using them! :)
Useful mainly for moderation, however even if you're not a Bot/Plugin developer for Discord, it's sometimes handy to grab the ID for something, especially if you're a moderator, for kicking, warning or banning people, so you can do it immediately by right-clicking (or using force-touch or haptic-touch on mobile devices) on the person/channel/server and selecting Copy ID. Here's now to enable this:
On a Desktop/Laptop:
Select the Settings Wheel in the bottom left of the screen (next to your username/discriminator)
Select Appearance (under App Settings) and scroll down to Advanced.
Make sure the slider switch for Developer Mode is enabled (white dot to the right on a purple background)
Hey, if you're on a nice rig, you might benefit from Hardware Acceleration, which will use your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU/Graphics Card) to render Discord's interface, which will relieve some of the stress on your CPU, which you are probably using simultaneously for other tasks such as apps and games. This setting will be Enabled by Default on most machines beefy enough to use it, however if it isn't automatically switched on, and you want to see if it'll help you, you can turn it on by following the steps below:
On a Desktop/Laptop:
Select the Settings Wheel in the bottom left of the screen (next to your username/discriminator)
Select Appearance (under App Settings) and scroll down to Advanced.
Make sure te slider switch for Hardware Acceleration is enabled (white dot to the right on a purple background)
Equally, if you're experiencing frame drops or other strange lag (in any application/game) whilst using Discord, you might want to experiment with this setting turned off, and see if that helps you, although bear in mind this could lead to higher CPU utilisation, which isn't always a fantastic idea!
You definitely want to turn on Two-Factor Authentication for your account, as this drastically enhances the security of your account, and prevents account compromise in the event of your password being featured within a data-breach. It also serves as a pretty good notification if somebody is attempting to log into your account, and will prevent them from logging in even if they know your password, TL;DR, who doesn't like extra security.
On a Desktop/Laptop:
Select the Settings Wheel in the bottom left of the screen (next to your username/discriminator)
Select My Account (under User Settings)
Select Enable 2FA
