Matthew 8:5-17
Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant from Afar
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”
7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
“He took up our infirmities
and bore our diseases.”
Matthew 4:23
Jesus Heals Every Disease
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Matthew 5:24-29
Jesus Heals A Woman Suffering for Twelve Years
24 A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
John 5:1-9
The Healing at the Pool
5 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. [4] 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”
8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
Mark 1:32-34
Jesus Heals the Sick of a Whole Town
32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.
Mark 2:1-12
Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Mark 6:1-6
Jesus Only Heals a Few in His Hometown
1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
John 9:1-41
Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some claimed that he was.
Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”
12 “Where is this man?” they asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said.
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”
18 They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents.19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”
20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”
25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
26 Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27 He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”
28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”
30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
Jesus did many healing miracles in all four gospels...Above are some of them...The healing miracles are among my favorite of His miracles...And these miracles would have been astonishing to those seeing them, the immediate family members, and to those He was healing...These miracles show His compassion and His wanting and willingness to help others...Almost all of His miracles are done person to person and done personally...Yet, He does heal a centurion's servant from afar...It seems maybe some of the people He healed came from miles away for help...Other healings were done to the local people...After Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law of her fever, many sick and ill and demon-possessed people were brought to Him and He drove out spirits and healed all the sick...And as they gathered at the door after He healed Peter's mother-in-law, Jesus healed all those who were sick in this town...This would be been quite a scene for the people to see Him heal all the sick in the town...Jesus had a Way for healing miracles and did many of them...His healing miracles show His Power over the human body, and His knowledge of the human body and anatomy...
I have wondered about His miracles, and His healing of others seems very important...One's health means so much to each of us...So, if One is Divine and One can help, then helping others through healing them seems quite a logical thing to do... It is also a compassionate. loving, and quite a good thing to do -that is to heal someone...
If you believe Jesus is from God, what would you be having Him do?...If you were divine and believed in God what kind of miracles would you do?...I think these are important questions for us to ask...Would man and the way we think do miracles of money, material gifts, and try to gain power?...Would the normal man go out and look for people who needed healing and needing help?...Jesus was always traveling around and trying to teach others about God and help them...This is what He did...Money and wealth He never possessed...
Jesus did not heal all the sick and ill people of Israel...But He could have...And when we study these healing miracles, we know He could heal any and every type of disease...We see that most of sick people came to Him for help...Most of those who needed healing met Him, and they must have felt something about Him that could help them...Maybe you just had this feeling when being around Him...For those who could see, maybe looking into His eyes they could see something...The women who was sick for twelve years, somehow knew if she could just touch Him that she could be healed...Touching Him and having faith in Him were integral parts of most of His healings...And of the two things, touching Him or believing in Him, faith in Him was the more important belief...The centurion knew if he could just talk to Jesus that He could heal his servant (who wasn't even with him)...The Roman Centurion had great faith in Jesus...And Jesus did not have to touch His servant to heal him...In a similar story of great faith, four friends carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus and hoisted him down from the roof of a house, He was in...Seeing the four helping men's faith, Jesus healed their paralyzed friend...When Jesus saw the four friend's faith, the first thing He said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”...Then He told the paralyzed one to pick up his mat and walk...And he did...Others who were sick needed encouragement from Him...After being sick for a long period like thirty eight years, an illness can become a part of your lifestyle and everyday life...Jesus asked an invalid, “Do you want to get well?.”...And this question is not a foolish one, for Jesus does not ask foolish questions...It maybe that people can only be helped if they want to be helped -but I am really am not sure why Jesus ask this particular man that question...But the man had been ill for thirty eight years, and his life would suddenly change...He would now be well and could help himself, and do things for himself for the first time in many, many years...
Those in Jesus' hometown, really could not get themselves to believe in Him...In His hometown, the few He touched did become well...But He only laid His hands on a few sick people and those He touched were healed...And Jesus could not do many miracles in His hometown, because they did not believe in Him...In His own hometown, His neighbors had little faith in Him...So He could only do a few healings by touching them, and the gospel says He could not do any miracles there...
These are great miracle stories of Jesus...For me, these miracles show His Divinity...These Divine Acts brought people closer to Jesus...He wanted to forgive people of their sins...He wanted to help people and to get us closer to His Father...That is why He came to earth...His miracles prove that He is the Messiah...The healings show that He is the Greatest Healer of all time...His healings and miracles prove that He is in control of nature and mankind...His healings prove that He is Son of the Blessed One...
Jesus is the Messiah...He proved it with His miracles...Jesus followed the will of God and not His own will...One has to believe from reading the four gospels and in His miracles, that He comes from God...The man, who was blind since birth, that He healed -said it very well to the unbelieving Pharisees, “Now that is remarkable!...You don’t know where He comes from, yet He opened my eyes...We know that God does not listen to sinners...He listens to the Godly Person who does His will...Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind...If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”...
