Matthew 1:18-25
Jesus Son of God
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
God came to us, to be with us...Jesus is the Greek word or form for Joshua, which means the LORD saves...Jesus would be called Immanuel with means God with us...He would be called Jesus because He would save His people and believers from their sins...If you look at the world, you can see we need God with us...
So Jesus would be born and come for the sinner, the oppressed, the broken, the needy, the outcast, those who need help, those who cannot make it on their own...So Mary would given a Son, and the world would be given a Son...And an angel would tell her husband Joseph in a dream about Jesus...And Joseph fell into a dream, and saw an angel standing beside him. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “don’t hesitate to take Mary as your wife!...For the Child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit...And she will have a Son, and you shall name him Jesus (meaning ‘Savior’), for He will save His people from their sins...This will fulfill God’s message through His prophets—‘Listen!...The virgin shall conceive a Child!...She shall give birth to a Son, and He shall be called “Emmanuel” (meaning “God is with us”).’”...When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel commanded and brought Mary home to be his wife, but she remained a virgin until her Son was born; and Joseph named him “Jesus.”...
And Mary, a virgin, would give birth to a Son, with the Holy Spirit as the Father...She embraced God's gift to her, a Son...And she knew that He would be special...The nature of His birth is most mysterious -a virgin joining with the Holy Spirit...As He is Mysterious...The Most Beautiful thing in life is this Mystery...His Mystery somehow meets all the needs and wants of man...And God came to us and is with us, within this Mystery of His Holy Spirit and His Son...
